British Gas is Britain's favourite domestic energy supplier. As well as providing gas and electricity, we also install and maintain central heating and gas appliances in millions of homes throughout the country.
In addition, our customers turn to us to provide expert, hassle-free care that takes care of their kitchen appliances, home electrics and plumbing and drains. Everything we do is driven by our desire to deliver high quality products and services.
We operate in England and Wales under the British Gas brand name and as Scottish Gas in Scotland.

Our employee base consists of more than 12,000 staff in our UK based call centres and over 8,000 highly trained, CORGI registered engineers.
We invest heavily in training to help ensure that the service we offer is always of the highest quality possible. We are Britain’s largest single employer and trainer of gas engineers, investing over £26 million each year.
In 2002 we created the industry's first Engineering Academy to provide “best in class” training – ensuring our engineers have the best knowledge, equipment and expertise.
In 1999, we achieved BSI Company Wide Registration, joining an elite group of only 30 companies world-wide. In addition we gained a BSI Kitemark for new central heating installations and in 2000 we were delighted to receive a Queen's Enterprise award for the field system used by our engineers.
Providing energy for millions of homes in the UK
Against the background of a highly competitive energy market, we continue to be the first choice gas supplier for millions of customers. What’s more, since the residential electricity market opened to competition in 1998, we’ve grown to become the largest supplier of electricity to residential customers in Britain.
