Powerflush™
If you’ve got cold spots on your radiators, Powerflush™ could be the answer. Flushing your central heating system to clean it can improve its performance, helping it to heat the water quicker, more evenly and be quieter. Once it’s working well, your running costs may also reduce. After flushing your radiators, pipes and boiler, the water is treated to prevent future build-up and corrosion, which increases the life of your system.

Timer switch or programmer
With a timer switch or programmer you can turn your heating and hot water on and off automatically, helping reduce energy waste, cut your heating bills and minimise hassle. New programmers let you set your hot water and heating at different times and even take into account when the clocks change.

Thermostatic radiator valves
Thermostatic radiator valves not only help make your home more comfortable, they can save you money too. They allow you to control the temperature in each room, independently of your main thermostat – so when the room reaches the desired temperature, the valve turns the radiator down. For best results consult your engineer about upgrading your radiators or choose from our designer ranges.

Solar power
Put sunlight to good use. You could make big savings on your energy bills with Worcester Greenskies solar panels and a solar power enabled hot water tank. The solar panels work in direct and indirect sunlight and, with the new hot water tank, could produce around 50 - 70% of your hot water for free – so you can make a real difference to your home, your energy bills and the planet.

Hot water tank thermostat
A hot water tank thermostat lets you control the temperature of your hot water separately from your heating, which could reduce energy waste. If you also insulate your hot water cylinder and pipes you could save even more money because your water will stay hotter for longer.

Fully pumped systems
Fully pumped systems pump the water from your boiler to the water tank faster so it heats up a lot quicker – and because your boiler runs for less time it could save you money. Many older systems are ‘gravity’ dependent which takes longer to heat and most modern boilers now require that your system is fully pumped.

Insulation
Insulating your home could save you approximately £200 a year. Loft insulation is the cheapest and easiest way to save energy, and replacing older, thin insulation could save you around 33% of your heating costs – that’s potentially £200 per year. You can also lose 33% of your heat through the walls of your home, so cavity wall insulation could save you another £145**.

**£345 annual saving based on the installation of 250mm loft and cavity wall insulation in an un-insulated 3 bedroom, semi-detached gas heated property. Potential annual energy savings are £200 for loft insulation and £145 for cavity wall insulation. Savings will be reduced if updating existing insulation.

Ventilation
If you have a boiler which uses a chimney type flue it needs to be ventilated correctly. In 2008 more stringent ventilation standards are being applied which may require your ventilation to be upgraded. Ask your engineer to check that yours is up to standard.
