Do you need a combi or system boiler?

We can help you decide

Whether you need a combi boiler or a system boiler for your business will depend on your individual circumstances.

Our installation manager will help you choose after your free site survey, but here are some of the key features and considerations.

Commercial combi boilers System boilers
Combi boilers heat water instantly, direct from the mains water supply With system boilers, you’ll normally have to wait for hot water to warm up before it can be used
We have combi boilers that can produce between 10 and 20 litres of hot water a minute A system boiler may be right for your business if it uses a lot of hot water
If your building has a combi boiler, you won’t have a hot water storage cylinder or a cold water tank A system boiler has a hot water storage cylinder and cold water tank – these are normally housed separately from your boiler
A combi boiler is often the choice of businesses with limited space and may be right for you if:

  • Your business only needs hot water for hand washing and cleaning e.g. offices and shops
  • You only want to pay for the hot water you use
  • You don’t have room for a hot water storage cylinder, or cold water tank
Some examples of typical businesses that choose system boilers are:

  • Hairdressing salons
  • Hotels and guesthouses
  • Care homes
  • Restaurants and catering outlets

Frequently asked questions

Q. How long does a site survey take?

A: We'll need about 90 minutes for a site survey. This is in order to understand your business heating and hot water requirements, and to check your existing installation.

Q. What boiler manufacturers do you use?

A: We only install energy-efficient boilers from leading manufacturers, including Ideal, Worcester Bosch, Vaillant and Baxi.

Q. What if my boiler’s broken and I just want it repaired?

A: No problem. We can fix it with a one-off commercial boiler repair.

Q. What if I want a boiler for a residential property?

A: Most boilers for residential homes have outputs of less than 70 kW and you can get quotes for these through the new boiler page on our residential site.

If you need a boiler with an output greater than 70 kW, you're in the right place – contact our commercial boiler team, using the details above.
